Description: 

Murexide is a synthetic dye that is often used as an indicator in titrations and for colorimetric analysis. It is also known as ammonium purpurate and is a purplish-red compound that is derived from the dye, which itself was originally obtained from the murex shellfish. It’s used frequently used as an indicator in the determination of calcium or magnesium ions in complex metric titrations. It’s  employed for measuring the concentration of certain metal ions in solution due to its color change based on the metal ion present.
