It helps to protect the sample, reduce distortion, and keep the specimen in place. Cover slips also help to create an even thickness of the sample, allowing for clearer and more accurate observation under a microscope.

To use a cover Glass:
- Place a drop of the specimen (like a biological sample) on the microscope slide.
- Gently lower the cover slip at an angle to avoid trapping air bubbles, which could interfere with the view.
- Once in place, the cover slip helps hold the specimen flat and protected.
